By now you’ve all probably seen that excellent video of Kid Beyond illustrating his usage of Ableton Live. Pretty cool, right? If one had such a system, you could loop yourself playing guitar, beatboxing, etc., all perfectly in sync with programmed drum/MIDI tracks and other performers.

I have a lot of fond memories for old computers like the 64 and Amiga, and it gives me warm feeling when I see mods like these. How many times have you left a gig with your ears ringing? Or woke up the next day worried you may have caused some permanent damage to your ears? My guess is quite often. It’s no secret that as DJs we are constantly exposing ourselves to super loud noises for extended periods of time. read more »
