Staump.com is a social networking site for independent artists and musicians. It was founded by Tim Staump.
The Staump.com vision began in 2004. After a year of research and business planning Tim brought his idea to Brooks. Brooks, being a very passionate music listener had already been working on an innovative music related site. After several months of discussion Brooks began work on the back end of Staump.com in the summer of 2005. To help bring Tim's vision to life, Brooks still needed a graphic designer, according to the terms and conditions of their collaboration. Tim hired The Design Compound to generate a graphic design for the site. After several failed attempts at completing something to Tim's standards, he terminated the contract with the graphic designer and set out to find someone who could accomplish the task to Tim's satisfaction.
While developing the site Tim worked at The Men's Wearhouse to help pay the bills and compensate the web developers. There he met Devon Anderson. He soon discovered Devon's artistic ability to graphically design websites and hired him shortly thereafter. Several attempts later, Devon was able to come up with a satisfactory layout for the launch.
In 2006, Tim incorporated Staump.com as part of his Staump Productions chain. During this time, Tim also opened his recording studio to independent artists, now known as The East County Recording Studio.
Staump.com went live on October 31st, 2006 with about fifteen pre-registered artist profiles. Tim continued to follow his business plan on the promotion of the site; a form of promotion that Tim likes to call "Guerrilla Marketing." After eleven months of "out of the box" marketing tactics, the site grew into a more complex idea and a new version was launched on August 6th, 2007. The new version of Staump.com launched with over two-hundred artists from eight different countries.
